In context with Elon Musk's takeover of X, ZeMKI member Prof. Dr. Christian Katzenbach was recently quoted in the dossier "Digitalwende" of the Süddeutsche Zeitung and will be heard on Deutschlandfunk Kultur on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

The PGMT Lab is going to AoIR in Sheffield, UK, from October 30 to November 2, 2024. The conference brings together hundreds of academics, researchers and other participants for an interdisciplinary, multi-methodological look at the Internet.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Rebecca Scharlach as the newest member of the PGMT Lab at ZeMKI! In her postdoctoral project, Rebecca will explore the socio-technical impact of integrating generative AI into social media platforms.

Dr. Daria Dergacheva from PGMT Lab will present on the topic “Governing Russian disinformation: very large social media platforms policies in the context of Russian invasion and war in Ukraine” at a workshop at Maastricht University on October 11, 2024.

Numerous ZeMKI members will be presenting their research at the 10th conference of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA).

The Lab Platform Governance, Media & Technology is goint to ECREA at the University of Ljubljana from September 24-27, 2024.

Prof. Dr. Christian Katzenbach from the Lab for Platform Governance, Media and Technology has published a new special issue entitled “Automation in the Digital Society” together with Prof. Dr. Christian Pentzold.

On August 29, 2024, Miira Hill presented a joint paper with Luisa Runge and Christian Katzenbach at the 16th Conference of the European Sociological Association (ESA) in Porto.

The participating research institutions have announced a total of 18 research assistant positions (job scope: DFG 100%, FWF 75%) with the aim of pursuing a doctorate over a four-year period.

ZeMKI member Dr. Daria Dergacheva will be presenting at ECREA’s 2024 pre-conference “The Informational Influence of Autocracies Abroad” in Ljublyana, Slovenia, on September 23rd 2024.
