In October 2025, the Center for Media, Communication, and Information Research (ZeMKI) at the University of Bremen will welcome Prof. Dr. Lissa Holloway-Attaway from the University of Skövde in Sweden as a visiting scholar.

In the "Science Goes Public" format, ZeMKI members Dr. Kerstin Radde-Antweiler, Dr. Stephanie Geise, and Dr. Christian Schwarzenegger will speak about research in the field of gaming on November 13, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. The three ZeMKI professors will demonstrate why computer games are serious research subjects!

This year’s theme is “Video Games and Our Futures.” Currently in 21st Century society, we face a range of complex issues and wide-sweeping changes and challenges, ranging from radical political and economic shifts, to the implications of climate change and related environmental threats, migration, the impacts of wars, and the long legacies and effects of colonialism, gender inequities and other related power imbalances.

The ZeMKI "Media and Religion" department, headed by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Radde-Antweiler, is seeking two research associates (f/m/d) interested in researching the mediatization of religion, preferably religion and digital gaming. A focus on religion is not necessary.

How is religious agency changing in the age of digitalization and artificial intelligence? Researchers at the Universities of Bremen and Würzburg are addressing this question in the new DFG research network CARD. The interdisciplinary project is scheduled to run for three years.
