On December 17 and 18, 2025, the international conference “GenAI & Creative Practices: Past, Present, and Future” will take place at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and online via Zoom. Organized by Responsible Digital Transformations, the conference brings together scholars, researchers, and practitioners to critically examine the changing relationship between generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and creative work. Click here for the conference overview.
The focus will be on questions about how GenAI is changing creative processes, opening up new approaches to creativity, and at the same time reigniting debates about authorship, work, ethics, regulation, and trust in digital media. Topics of discussion will include the future of creative work, responsible and scalable GenAI, values in creative practices, and the political economy and regulation of GenAI in the cultural sector.
Keynote speakers include Baptiste Caramiaux, Pei Sze Chow, Maximilian Schich, and Naureen Mahmood. The conference is aimed at anyone interested in the social, cultural, and political implications of generative AI. ZeMKI will also be represented with several contributions on the 18 December.
